Lack Of Interest, The Government Will Ask For Banks To Give Low Interest For Electric Motor Conversion
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) noted that until December 31, 2023, only 181 motorcycles had converted electric motorcycles.
This number is still far from the target set by the government in 2023, which is 50,000 units.
Unutuk menarik minat masyarakat, pemerintah diketahui telah meningkatkan besaran bantuan pemerintah berupa incentif dari sebelumnya Rp7 juta menjadi Rp10 juta.
Acting Director General of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation Jisman P Hutajulu said his party had communicated with national banks to provide cheap financing for people who want to convert their motorbikes.
The reason is, the total cost incurred for conversion is estimated to range from Rp. 15 million to Rp. 17 million.
With an incentive given IDR 10 million, the public still has to pay IDR 5-7 million.
"We are still trying to communicate with banks how this Rp5-7 million can be completed, maybe at certain rates with flowers which, if possible, 0 percent," said Jisman at a press conference in Jakarta, Thursday, January 18.
However, Jisman was reluctant to provide details on how the scheme would be used in the financing
Furthermore, Jisman detailed, of the 181 conversion requests made, 145 of them have received government assistance with a total of Rp1.4 billion and 36 others are still in the process of roadworthy testing and applying for a Type Test Certificate (SUT) and a Type Test Registration Certificate (SRUT) in 2024 to ensure that technical requirements and roadworthiness of motorized vehicles are met.
"8 units received assistance of Rp. 7 million and 137 units received assistance of Rp. 10 million," continued Jisman.

Jisman explained that his party had implemented various programs in order to improve the electric motor conversion ecosystem, including improving the regulation on the conversion of electric motors through the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation number 13 of 2023 which regulates the increase in incentives from the previous Rp7 million to Rp10 million.
This regulation also regulates incentive recipients from what was originally intended for individuals to become groups of non-governmental communities and government institutions. This regulation also removes the provisions of cubication to be unrestricted.
In addition to preparing the rules, Jisman said, his Ministry is also actively preparing conversion and implementation workshops for training and workshops. As of 2023, there are 28 conversion workshops that have been certified from the Ministry of Transportation. 13 of them have entered the digital platform with a conversion capacity of 38,124 units per year.
