2 Riau Residents Involved In Smuggling 7 Bangladeshi Citizens To Malaysia Arrested By Police
RIAU - personnel of the Hayabusa-3008 Police Ship Ditpolair Baharkam Polri arrested two Riau residents suspected of being perpetrators of the criminal act of trafficking in persons who would infiltrate seven Foreign Citizens (WNA) from Bangladesh to Malaysia.The commander of KP Hayabusa-308 Baharkam Polri, Iptu Andi Yasser, explained that the case was revealed thanks to information received by officers from residents that a Bangladeshi citizen would be dispatched to Malaysia around the coast in Sepahat Bengkalis.This information was followed up until officers finally arrested two perpetrators AR and MP, Sunday, January 14."After an investigation was carried out in the field, the team secured and examined two suspected smugglers along with seven Bangladeshi residents who were riding in a pick-up car," Andi said, Thursday, January 18.He said the seven Bangladeshi residents were transported by Daihatsu Terios car. They were picked up by the alleged perpetrators from an ALS bus fleet on January 14, 2024 at 14.00 WIB at the Pagi Market Fly-over Jalan Soekarno-Hatta, Pekanbaru City, Riau Province.The suspected TIP then took the Bangladeshi citizen to a boarding house in the Kualu area, Pekanbaru. They began to be dispatched to a shelter in Sepahat Bengkalis in the evening at 20.00 WIB"From Sepahat, it is planned that these Bangladeshi citizens will be dispatched to Malaysia by speedboat. After this, we will hand over the alleged perpetrator to the Sub-Directorate of Gakkum Ditpolairud of the Riau Police for further processing," said Andi.
The perpetrators will be charged with Article 120 paragraphs (1) and (2) of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code
