Partnering With Google Cloud, Samsung Adds Gemini And Imagen 2 To Galaxy S24 Series
JAKARTA Samsung is working with Google Cloud to add a generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in the Galaxy S24series. The technology they add is Gemini Pro.
In addition to including the Gemini Pro big language model (LLM) into Samsung's new device, both of them also added Imagen 2, a text-to-image conversion system with Vertex AI support. This AI system can produce high-quality photorealistics.
"We are very pleased that the Galaxy S24series series is the first smartphone equipped with Gemini Pro and Imagen 2 on Vertex AI," said Samsung Electronics Head of Software Office of Mobile eXperience Business, Yoon Janghyun.
Janghyun explained that this collaboration has been going on for several months. Google Cloud and Samsung continue to carry out rigorous testing to see Gemini Pro and Imagen 2 capabilities on Galaxy S24series devices.
After testing, the two AI-powered systems were evaluated competitively to achieve expected results. After all, Samsung wants to bring the best AI experience with the technology they developed with Gemini Pro support.
Samsung did not explain which device will use the Gemini Pro. It seems that this AI technology support will only be added to the Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra because Samsung will add the Gemini Nano model in the regular S24.

Although these two LLM models have the same code, the system inside remains different. Gemini Pro is a medium-level model with Google Bard support, while Gemini Nano is the lightest model for live walks on mobile silicon.
By adding two Gemini models to the Galaxy S24series, Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian believes that the user experience of the device will increase. The reason is, generative AI can stimulate and strengthen communication on the device.
With Gemini, Samsung developers can take advantage of Google Cloud's world-class infrastructure, cutting-edge performance, and flexibility to present AI-backed generative applications on Samsung smartphone devices, Thomas explained.
