Tata Motors Launches Punch.ev, India's First Electric SUV
JAKARTA - Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd (TPEM), a subsidiary of Tata Motors officially launched their first pure electric vehicle, Punch.ev.
This product is based on the advanced Pure EV architecture, which was recently introduced through the acti.ev model. Punch.ev not only outpaced conventional standards, but also offers cutting-edge technology, environmental awareness, and affordability.
This multipurpose electric vehicle has an elegant design and is sold at prices ranging from 1,099,000 rupees or around Rp206 million. Punch.ev will be available in all official Tata Motors showrooms for sales of electric vehicles (EVs) and Tata.ev stores across India.
Shaily Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited & Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited, stated that this launch is a milestone.
"Our mission to accelerate electric vehicle adoption has changed the landscape and overcome obstacles with innovative solutions. By launching Punch.ev, an SUV that exceeds daily needs, we are bringing our commitment to a new level by presenting a versatile EV that suits the growing needs of customers. It aims to boost the electric vehicle market in India and bring India to a pure electric vehicle era," he said, in an official statement, Thursday, January 18.
Punch.ev has two battery pack options, namely 25 kWh with a range of 315 km and 35 kWh with a range of 421 km, according to various user needs. This battery pack option is equipped with two e-Drive options, a 60 kW Permanent Magnetic Synchron AC Motor and a 90 kW Permanent Magnetic Synchron Motor. Both options have IP67 ratings for dust and water protection, with a warranty of 8 years.

In addition, the Punch.ev LR can be installed with an AC 3.3 kW and 7.2 kW fast charger at home or workplace. With DC's fast charging capability, this battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in 56 minutes from the DC 50 kW fast charger.
In India's EV market with competitors such as MG Comet and Citroen eC3, Tata Punch EV is ready to compete at competitive prices, feature advantages, and performances it offers.
