India Open 2024: 5 Indonesian Representatives Qualify For The Last 16
JAKARTA The first round of the India Open 2024 badminton event has been completed. Indonesia has five representatives who qualified for the second round of nine representatives who participated.
Men's singles are the sector with the most representatives who survive in this Super 750 BWF level event. There are still Jonatan Christie and Anthony Sinisuka Ginting who will appear on the last 16.
Jonathan qualified after winning over Hong Kong representative, Ng Ka Long Angus. The 2018 Asian Games gold medalist will then meet Malaysia's mainstay singles, Lee Zii Jia.
Then, Anthony Ginting fought through the first round thanks to a dramatic rubber game victory over the Japanese representative, Kanta Tsuneyama. In the second round, the bronze medalist at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics will meet Kenta Nishimoto (Japan).
The other three tickets for Indonesia were each secured by the women's singles Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, mixed doubles Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati, and Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto.

Gregoria, who became the seventh seed, got a ticket to the second half after tackled China Taipei's representative, Sung Shuo Yun. Singapore's representative, Yeo Jia Min, will be Gregoria's next challenge.
Then, Rehan/Lisa escaped without breaking a sweat in the first half due to their injuries. They will try to take tickets to the quarter-finals by facing Ye Hong Wei/Lee Chia Hsin from China Taipei.
Finally, Fajar/Rian reached the round of 16 after stopping the Malaysian pair, Man Wei Chong/Kai Wun Tee. The next challenge is that Fajar/Rian will meet Danish men's doubles, Rasmus Kjaer/Frederik Sogaard.
