Coordinating Minister For Political, Legal And Security Affairs Showcases The Work Of The TPPU Task Force Evaluating 300 PPATK Reports
Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD showcased the work of the Money Laundering Task Force (TPPU) which succeeded in supervising and re-evaluating the 300 PPATK reports.
Mahfud explained that the evaluation and supervision of 300 analysis report results (LHA) and the examination report (LHP) of the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) involved 12 experts and practitioners who were members of the TPPU Task Force.
The total value of LHA and LHP PPATK reviewed by the TPPU Task Force reached Rp. 349 trillion, including one case of alleged money laundering from gold imports worth Rp. 189 trillion.
"The most significant development of the work of the TPPU Task Force is the handling of letter LHP No. SR 205/2020 related to the case of gold imports with suspicious financial transactions amounting to Rp189 trillion," said Mahfud, who is also the Chair of the TPPU Committee and the Head of the TPPU Task Force Steering Director. reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 17.
Mahfud explained that before the TPPU Task Force, the report had stalled. "However, with the supervision of the task force, the case began to be processed by uncovering criminal acts by investigators from the Directorate General of Customs and Taxes and allegations of tax crimes by the Directorate General of Taxes," said Mahfud.
He continued the case, which was linked to the alleged customs crime, is currently moving up to the investigation stage, while the taxation crime is currently in the preliminary evidence collection stage.

Mahfud said the evidence was collected, including from four taxpayers. "The estimated underpayment tax is hundreds of billions of rupiah," said the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs.
Meanwhile, for other cases, Mahfud said that the police, prosecutors, and the KPK are currently in the process of being followed up.
"Some are now under investigation, some have been convicted, such as (the corruption case) Rafael Alun who was included in the letter (LHA/LHP) was sentenced last week," he said.
The TPPU Task Force was formed based on the results of the decision of the TPPU Committee in April 2023, which was then submitted in a hearing with Commission III of the DPR RI on April 11, 2023.
The TPPU Task Force is tasked with evaluating 300 LHA/LHP PPATK until December 31, 2023 or a work period set for eight months.*
