Will Face Vietnam, Shayne Pattynama Invites The National Team To Forget Iraq's Controversial Goals
JAKARTA - Shayne Pattynama is preparing with the Indonesian national team to face Vietnam on the second matchday of Group D of the 2023 Asian Cup.
In preparation for the maximum meeting of Vietnam, Shayne asked the team to forget Iraq's controversial second goal.
Despite being detrimental to the team, Shayne said that the discussion about goals in the inaugural match must be over quickly. You see, the most important thing for the Indonesian national team is to focus on the match against Vietnam.
"I think Iraq's second goal was offside. There was a problem there, not so good for us. However, we couldn't do much with it," said Shayne Pattynama.
"We have to take lessons from that incident because we can't do much. So, we have to focus on the next match (Vietnam), we need to train even harder," Shayne said as quoted from the PSSI website, Wednesday, January 17, 2024.

The defeat in the inaugural match from Iraq made the Indonesian national team only have one choice against Vietnam, which was to win for the chance to qualify for the last 16.
Shayne further emphasized that the most important thing that must be done is to focus on yourself, including in terms of building confidence again.
"They (Vietnam) played well against Japan. So, we have to learn their advantages and disadvantages and make game planning against Vietnam. This will be an interesting challenge for us."
"I don't know much about their players. However, they are fast and have good possession."
"We have to work hard and rebuild our confidence and have to focus more on the team than think about other teams," Shayne said.
Vietnam could score two goals against Japan in the first match of Group D. Even so, Philippe Troussier's team lost 2-4.
This means that Vietnam has the potential to make it difficult for the Indonesian national team to get three points. However, this opportunity is still wide open considering the appearance of the Garuda Squad is also slick.
Meanwhile, Iraq's controversial goal took place at Ahmed bin Ali Stadium on January 15, 2024.
In the match which ended 3-1 for Iraq, Shayne Pattynama did not participate in defending the Indonesian national team because he had only arrived at a short time.
However, he watched the match and realized that Iraq's second goal scored by Osama Rashid was controversial and detrimental to the Indonesian national team.
