Anies: Threat Of Entering A Criminal Is Not Freedom Of Speech

Presidential candidate number 1 Anies Baswedan stated that threatening actions through social media went into the criminal realm, no longer free speech.

"The threat of safety is that it enters the criminal realm. It is no longer the realm of freedom of speech," he said at Patimura Airport, Ambon, Maluku, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, January 15.

This was conveyed by Anies when asked for his response regarding the perpetrators of threats to Anies, who had been arrested by the police.

"I really appreciate the National Police Chief who responded quickly, finished looking for and finding and then processing the law of the perpetrators," he said.

Anies explained that free speech must be protected, and one way to protect free speech by not allowing any individuals to threaten safety.

He hopes it needs to be a lesson for all parties freedom of speech to be upheld, but not to make threats to safety.

"This needs to be a lesson, if it occurs in minors, it is fostered so as not to make the same mistake. If it happens to adults, the adult law applies," Anies ordered.
