Yusril Has Predicted A Vulnerable Examination For Firi Bahuri: I Just Need To Transfer It To The Investigative Laptop

JAKARTA - A constitutional law expert, Yusril Ihza Mahendra, said that he had recorded the information to be conveyed on his laptop. Because, it has been predicted that things that investigators want to know in the case of alleged extortion or gratification are the former Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo, with the suspect Firli Bahuri.

Yusril made this statement after completing his examination at Bareskrim Polri for approximately three hours starting from 11.00 WIB to 14.00 WIB.

"Indeed, several questions have been asked me and I have answered them, and I have written most of them and I can already predict what investigators really want to know from me and I have written that I just need to move them into the investigator's laptop," said Yusril to reporters, Monday, January 15.

The information that has been conveyed is believed to be a consideration for investigators. Moreover, it is not simple to suspect Firli Bahuri when he served as Chairman of the KPK.

According to him, there is a sense of concern about the emergence of wider problems between the Police and the KPK. Moreover, things that interfere with the implementation of the General Election or the 2024 General Election.

"I said this, the issue of suspecting a KPK chairman is not a simple thing. Because this is the law enforcement apparatus and my concern is that one day there will be a problem between the National Police Headquarters and the KPK like some time ago," he said.

"And because of that, it is very careful not to cause a commotion which will ultimately have an impact on the implementation of the election which will be held in the near future," continued Yusril.

Apart from that, Yusril mentioned one of the examination materials about a photo showing a meeting between Firli Bahuri and Syahrul Yasin Limpo.

According to him, the photo cannot be used as evidence. Because, it does not explain anything about the alleged extortion or gratification.

"So a photo like that must be called, supported by other evidence. For example, someone heard the conversation when Pak Yasin and Pak Firli were sitting together, but no one witness explained anything like that," he said.

Moreover, said Yusril, the photo is considered only a clue which shows that there was a meeting of the two former state officials.

"So the photo is at least just a sign that it is true that there has been a meeting between Mr. Firli and Mr. Yasin, but it does not prove that the photo occurred extortion or a request for gratification from Mr. Firli against Mr. Yasin Limpo," he said.

"So I think the photo should be put aside because it doesn't explain what it is," continued Yusril.

Yusril Ihza Mahendra is one of three mitigating witnesses proposed by Firli Bahuri. The other two are Prof. Romli Atmasasmita and Prof. Suparji Ahmad.

The three names of mitigating witnesses have been submitted to Polda Metro Jaya investigators through a registered letter number 251/IISPA/XII/2023, dated December 20.

Meanwhile, Firli Bahuri was named a suspect based on the results of the case title conducted on Wednesday, November 22.

Several pieces of evidence that became the basis for determining the suspect, namely, foreign exchange documents worth Rp7.4 billion. Then, there were also the results of the extraction of 21 cellphones.

In this case, Firli Bahuri was charged with Article 12 e or Article 12 B or Article 11 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended and supplemented by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption in conjunction with Article 65 of the Criminal Code.
