BANETN - A man with the initials S (53) was arrested by the Women and Children Protection Unit of the Tangerang Police Satreskrim, Banten Police, on suspicion of raping his stepdaughter."This victim is the stepchild of the suspect," said Tangerang Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head Kompol Arief Nazaruddin Yusuf in Tangerang, Antara, Sunday, January 14.He explained that the rape incident occurred in the Kresek District, Tangerang Regency on Sunday, December 31, 2023 at around 22.00 WIB.At that time, he continued, suspect S committed sexual violence or rape of a victim who was still a minor and still in grade 3 junior high school.Arif explained that the suspect was known to have carried out the action using traditional treatment modes through flower baths."The suspect concluded that the victim was followed or affix of spirits (magic creatures) of school demons. The victim's mother, or the suspect's wife, believed in it, so asked the suspect to treat the victim," he said.After carrying out the action, suspect S threatened the victim not to tell anyone about his actions."The suspect said he would be angry if the victim told about what happened. However, the victim's mother finally found out about it from the victim's narrative," he said.Until finally, the victim's mother found out about her husband's lecherous actions and reported the matter to the Tangerang Police.Not long after, the Satreskrim PPA Unit personnel managed to secure the suspect and further investigation was carried out.
"The articles imposed are Article 81 and/or Article 82 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 17 of 2016 concerning Child Protection with a minimum prison sentence of 5 years and a maximum of 15 years and a fine of 15 billion," he said.
