Police Arrest Shooter Anies Baswedan

JAKARTA - The National Police arrested the account owner who tweeted about the threat of shooting presidential candidate number 1 Anies Baswedan.

Head of the Public Information Bureau (Karopenmas) of the National Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, confirmed the information on the arrest. "Yes, it's true (already arrested)," Truno was quoted as saying by ANTARA, Saturday, January 13.

Truno did not provide further information, because it will be delivered directly and completely by the Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Sandi Nugroho at the Public Relations of the Police this afternoon.

"It will be conveyed by the Head of Division," said Truno.

The National Police is following up on a tweet regarding the threat to one of the presidential candidates participating in the 2024 General Election by deepening the account owner. Although, no party has officially reported the incident.

Information circulated about the account owner who made Anies' shooting tweet was arrested in the Jember area.

Anies Baswedan received a shooting threat by netizens while live on the TikTok application. Instagram social media account @rifanariansyah, which is indicated as a threat, can now not be found, allegedly deleted by its users.

Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the DPR Ahmad Sahroni also responded to the threat of shooting at presidential candidate Anies Baswedan.

He asked the police to ensure the safety of presidential and vice presidential candidates, especially during the campaign that is starting to heat up as it is today.

As the partner of the National Police, Sahroni also asked the police to comb through all forms of threats and provocations, to every presidential and vice presidential candidate in cyberspace. Because according to him, if allowed, it will be able to damage and make the atmosphere worse ahead of the election day.
