Public Parking Rates In Batam Increase 100 Percent

BATAM - Batam City Transportation Service (Dishub), Riau Islands said public parking rates in the city rose to 100 percent as of January 15, 2024.

The head of the Batam City Transportation Agency, Salim, said this was in accordance with Regional Regulation No.1 of 2024 which stated that public parking on the side of the road experienced tariff adjustments, namely two-wheeled vehicles from IDR 1,000 to IDR 2,000, while four-wheeled from IDR 2,000 to IDR 4,000.

Ahead of the implementation of the new parking rate, the Transportation Agency has carried out massive socialization to the public and parking attendants.

"Before it was implemented, we socialized it to the public. Our plan was to put up banners at parking points. This is important for the public to know about the increase in this new parking rate," Salim said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, January 12.

In addition, the increase in special parking rates is also stated in the Mayor Regulation (Perwako) Number 1 of 2024 concerning Motor Vehicle Parking Rates at Parking Facilities Outside the Parking Room/Special Parking Places which have been set on January 5, 2024 by the Mayor of Batam.

In the Perwako, it is conveyed that for four-wheeled vehicles such as passenger cars, vans and taxis, parking rates will be charged every the first two hours of IDR 5,000 and the next hour IDR 2,000, as well as a maximum parking rate of IDR 60 thousand per day.

"Two-wheeled vehicles will be subject to parking rates in the first two hours of Rp2,000 and the next hour Rp1,000," he said.

The Perwako also explained that regarding the entry and exit of the parking service area (drop off), namely previously the drop-off was valid for 15 minutes, now based on the rule, the drop-off is only 5 minutes.
