Sandiaga Uno: Many Middle Eastern Investors Interested In In Investing In IKN

JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said the Capital Nusantara (IKN) project is a high magnet for investors to invest in various sectors. One of them is the tourism sector and the creative economy (parekraf)

Menparekraf Sandiaga said that this fact could be based on the results of his working visit to a number of countries in the Middle East on January 5-6, 2024.

One of the goals of the working visit is to introduce investment opportunities in the tourism sector of Indonesia, especially in the Tourism Authority, Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for Tourism, including IKN and other projects.

"The interest in investing there (IKN) is very high. I see that Indonesia is still a magnet for investors because we have good econometrics, as well as in terms of conveniences presented by the government," Sandiaga said in a written statement, quoted Friday, January 12.

There were a number of parties that Sandiaga met during a working visit to the Middle East. Some of them are CEO Al Zarooni Emirates Investments LLC who is also Chairman of the Citizens School Dubai Adil Alzaaroni, discussing investment efforts in the education sector, and Chairman

Then, Director General Dubai Travelers of the Awad Bin Mohammad Bin Sheikh Mugrin Festival related to opportunities for cooperation in the parekraf sector, communication technology and renewable energy.

Sandiaga also held a meeting with the Director of Team of Sobha Realty, one of the largest real estate industries in India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) owned by Billionaire Mr. PN Menon.

"From the results of the working visit, where we met with investors, and one of the investors was interested in IKN. They instill interest in investing in several real estate projects in Indonesia, especially in IKN," he said.

He hopes that this series of working visits can increase the value of investment in the tourism sector this year.

"We must support investment capital so that this conducive investment is sustainable, world-class, competitive and encourages regional development to welfare," he said.

As for the first semester of 2023, the investment value in Indonesia was recorded at IDR 23.70 trillion or USD 1.601.28 million. Of this amount, there was a foreign investment of USD 588.15 million or approximately IDR 8.7 trillion, and domestic investment of USD 1.013.13 million or IDR 14.99 trillion.
