Jayapura Police Investigate Related Perpetrators Of Burning Youtefa Market With The Hangus Of Korem Dormitory 172/PWY
PAPUA - Jayapura City Police Chief Kombes Victor Mackbon confirmed that until now there has been no indication of the involvement of suspect RN in the arson case that occurred in Waena, Jayapura City, Papua.
"Until now, investigators have not found any maintenance or connection between the burning case carried out by RN at seven crime scenes (TKP) that occurred on Sunday (January 7) with the burning at the shophouse and the Korem 172/PWY dormitory which occurred on December 28, 2023," said Victor in Jayapura, Thursday, January 11, which was confiscated by Antara.
However, Victor ensured that his party was still investigating the suspect considering that from his confession he had set fire to himself at seven crime scenes in the Youtefa Market area.
"RN admitted to burning at a number of crime scenes in the Youtefa Market area to create chaos and move alone after drinking alcoholic beverages," he said.

RN was arrested at his hiding place around Abepura and is currently being held at the Jayapura City Police Detention Center, Monday, January 8 evening.
Regarding the proliferation of arson cases, Victor appealed to the public to always be vigilant and not be careless and reactivate sikamling in their respective neighborhoods.
"Siskamling must be reactivated so that the area is safe from criminal acts," he said.
The fire case in the Korem 172/PWY area, apart from burning the dormitory, was also a shophouse located on the side of Jalan Waena that occurred on December 28, 2023 when the body of former Papua Governor Lukas Enembe passed to Koya Koso for burial, Friday, January 29.
The fire at seven crime scenes around the Youtefa market that occurred on Sunday, January 7, in addition to burning and destroying residents' houses and stalls as well as residents' vehicles and SD Al Hidayah Abepura.
