Vice President Ma'ruf Receives Visit From Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister

JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin received a visit from Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia Waleed Bin Abdul Karim El Khereji at the Vice Presidential Palace, Jakarta.

"Today, the Vice President received important guests from the Saudi Arabian State, namely the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Ambassador," said Vice President Masduki Baidlowi spokesman after accompanying the Vice President at the meeting in Jakarta, reported by ANTARA, Thursday, January 11.

Masduki said there were several important discussions at the meeting, one of which was talks about the relationship between the two countries which were getting warm.

"Talks about relations between the two countries are being warm. Among other things, it is marked by how many meetings between the Arab government, Prince MBS and Mr. Jokowi and have agreed on several things," said Masduki.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia Deputy Foreign Minister Waleed Bin Abdul Karim El Khereji in his statement after the meeting expressed his joy because he could visit the Vice President's Palace.

"We are very happy to be able to visit the Vice President's Palace today. In the meeting we discussed a lot, among others, the coordination council that will be appointed at the level of the head of government," said Deputy Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia.

Deputy Foreign Minister Waleed said he and the Vice President also discussed economic cooperation between the two countries, as well as the issue of halal certification, haj and umrah, to Palestinian issues.

"For the Palestinian issue, the two countries have had a brief agreement between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia in resolving the Palestinian issue," he said.

In the future, said Deputy Foreign Minister Waleed, Saudi Arabia wants to continue working with Indonesia in various fields, especially the Islamic economy.

However, he stated that he did not want to announce the current form of cooperation.

"I choose not to announce the form of economic and sharia financial cooperation that will be carried out by the two countries at this time," he said.
