Malaysia Open 2024: Gregoria Qualifies For Quarter Finals, Ginting Loses
JAKARTA The women's singles Gregoria Mariska Tunjung qualified for the quarter-finals of the Malaysia Open 2024 after defeating the host's representative, Goh Jin Wei.
The 2017 junior world champion won 21-15 and 24-22 to extend his journey at the Super 1000 level event at the Axiata Arena, Thursday, January 11, 2024.
This is Gregoria's third straight victory over the Malaysian representative. This result also changed Gregoria's winning-loss record against Goh to 4-3.
Gregoria is the first Indonesian representative to advance to the quarter-finals. Currently, Indonesia has lost two mixed doubles and one men's singles.
The two mixed doubles that failed to reach the top eight were Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati and Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja.

Meanwhile, the men's singles who were eliminated were Anthony Sinisuka Ginting who lost the rubber game against Chinese representative Lu Guang Zu.
Ginting's defeat made Indonesia's representatives in the men's singles run out. The same fate had previously befallen mixed doubles following the defeat of the two pairs earlier.
