Malaysia Open 2024: Injury, Hendra/Ahsan Failed To Quarter Finals
JAKARTA - Men's doubles pair Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan failed to reach the quarter-finals of the Malaysia Open 2024.
The Daddies decided to withdraw due to injury while behind 7-15 in the second game against representatives of China, He Ji Ting/Ren Xiang Yu, at Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Thursday, January 11, 2024 at noon WIB.
The decision to resign was made because Ahsan had problems with his waist. He began to feel uncomfortable at the second game.
"Ahsan's condition is indeed an injury to the waist, but he explained that I do not know whether the injury was new or old, which must have started to feel in the second game," said Hendra after the match.
Before falling behind in the second game, Hendra/Ahsan had already lost the first game with a score of 17-21.

In the first game, Hendra/Ahsan actually performed well. They had led 7-3 over the opponent before undergoing a fierce match chasing each other's points afterwards.
"From today's game, the opponent played fast and had a meeting. The pressure was also strong enough that we were under pressure first," said Hendra.
Currently, Indonesia has only secured one ticket through the women's singles Gregoria Mariska Tunjung. Meanwhile, apart from Hendra/Ahsan, there were already three other representatives who were also eliminated.
The three representatives who were previously confirmed to return were Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja, and Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati.
