Residents In 3 Jakarta Areas Asked To Beware Of Floods Today
JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) asked residents in the West Jakarta (Jakbar), South Jakarta (Jaksel), and East Jakarta (Jaktim) areas to increase awareness regarding the potential for flooding today, Thursday 11 January. Head of BPBD DKI Jakarta, Isnawa Adji, stated that the three regions are in alert status, so it is necessary to anticipate flood potential. He explained that West Jakarta includes Kalideres and Cengkareng sub-districts, South Jakarta involving Cilandak, Jagakarsa, and Pasar Minggu sub-districts, as well as Ciracas, Cipayung, and Jatinegara sub-districts. This warning is based on an impact prediction analysis (impact basedcast) obtained from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the Flood Task Force (PUPR), and Inarisk (BNPB). As an anticipatory measure, the public is advised to remain vigilant and alert to face potential extreme weather impacts. BPBD DKI Jakarta also suggested that people who meet or experience an emergency situation can contact the Jakarta Alert Center (call center) through number 112. In addition, BPBD DKI Jakarta has alerted 267 trained officers to evacuate residents in emergency and flood-affected in the DKI Jakarta area. In addition to flood warnings, BPBD DKI Jakarta informs that as many as 16 sub-districts in Jakarta have potential for landslides in January 2024.
