The Minister Of Communication And Information Invites The Community Together To Fight Online Gambling
JAKARTA - After many reports related to online gambling advertisements appearing on platform X, Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi said that Kominfo had sent a strong reprimand this month.
Not only X, Budi also admitted that he had given ultimatums to several other platforms, including Meta in October. As a result, since August - October 2023 Meta has cut 1.65 million online gambling content and 450,000 advertisements related to online gambling.
"I need to emphasize that the authority of Kominfo to cut off access to online gambling content is not a single solution to eradicate online gambling," said the Minister of Communication and Information in its official statement on Thursday, January 11.
According to him, joint efforts from related parties are needed to strengthen the serious efforts that Kominfo is making in eradicating online gambling, both on digital platforms and on other sites.
Budi also expressed his support for law enforcement efforts by the Indonesian Police according to the authority we have, for example by providing support for the legal action process to dealers, advertisers, promoters, and other parties related to online gambling activities.

"Strict law enforcement against all online gambling actors is also the key to the effectiveness of eradicating online gambling, and of course Kominfo is ready to support the strategic steps of the Police that have been carried out so far," he added.
For this reason, Kominfo urges the public to jointly fight online gambling activities in their respective environments, both in their families, workplaces, educational institutions, and other surrounding environments.
Meanwhile, throughout July to December 2023, Kominfo has taken down 810,785 content related to online gambling. This number has almost increased 4 times compared to 2022.
