Amazon Distribution Center Worker In Birmingham Performs Strike Action

JAKARTA - Workers at Amazon's new distribution center in Birmingham, England, have decided to join the ongoing strike at the company regarding wages and working conditions, the GMB union said on Tuesday, January 9.

About 100 workers in the warehouse will strike on January 25, said GMB, which has not been officially recognized by the e-commerce giant from the United States.

Amazon has yet to provide a direct response to requests for comment from the media.

Over the past year, hundreds of employees have been on strike during an earlier strike in another Amazon warehouse, in Coventry, central England, but the company said the industry action there in November during Black Friday did not cause much disruption.
