ByteDance In Talks With Tencent And Other Buyers For Its Game Assets
JAKARTA - TikTok owners, ByteDance, announced on Tuesday January 9 that they are in talks with several potential buyers for their game assets. This includes the world's largest video game company, Tencent, as the Chinese social media company wants to withdraw from the gaming industry.
"Talks are still ongoing, but no agreement has yet been reached," a ByteDance spokesman said.
ByteDance and Tencent are discussing deals involving several popular video games published by ByteDance's Nuverse gaming unit, including "Crystal of Atland" and "Earth: Revival", local media LatePost reported on Monday, Janurai 8.
ByteDance in November said it would reshuffle Nuverse and withdraw from the gaming business to focus on other core businesses, five years after starting its exploration of the global video game market worth 185 billion US dollars (Rp2,877.2 trillion).
