Israeli Military Still Shoots Civilians Even though They Are Carrying White Flags

JAKARTA - Video footage, which shows the Israeli military opening fire on a woman leaving the northern Gaza Strip while holding a white flag in her hand and a small child next to her, is attracting attention on social media.

In the video, a number of civilians, mostly women and children, are seen leaving the area heading south while carrying white flags indicating surrender or "don't shoot" in their hands.

The Palestinian civilians tried to walk outside while holding their bags, as reported by ANTARA from Anadolu, Tuesday, January 9.

When a woman walking in front of the group of civilians carrying a white flag and accompanied by a child moved forward into the street, gunshots were heard.

The woman was shot and fell to the ground, while the child with her and a number of other Palestinian civilians in the group panicked and ran in all directions.

A person filming the incident from a nearby building shouted "the woman was shot."

In the recording, a Palestinian from the group tries to help the woman who was shot, but there is no detailed description of what happened after the incident.

The woman's identity and fate remain unknown.

The footage obtained by Middle East Eye was taken on November 12 in the center of Gaza City.

Images of Israeli snipers targeting Palestinian civilians in Gaza often attract public attention.

Earlier in the three months of relentless Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, there was video footage of a father and his young daughter being shot by Israeli snipers in the al-Shati Refugee Camp in northern Gaza.

Israel's series of attacks to date have killed more than 23,000 people and injured more than double that number.
