Stumbled By Emissions, Honda Civic Type R Becomes The Most Expensive In The Netherlands

The latest generation Honda Civic Type R was introduced in 2022 by getting extraordinary interest from various parties thanks to its aggressive design and performance. However, this car turns out to have a high price for several countries.

The Netherlands is one of the countries that gets this model at high price. The selling value of this Toyota GR Corolla competitor in the region can reach up to 95,060 euros or Rp1.6 billion. The price includes taxes set and additional packages such as the colors of the Championship White, Carbon Pack, and Illumination Pack.

Reporting from Motor1, Friday, January 5, the increase in the price of hot hatches was not only due to the value added tax (VAT) which applies in the local area by 21 percent, but also due to the enactment of the heavy van personenauto's en motorrijwielen (BPM) policy or the passenger car tax and motorcycles based on the amount of CO2 emissions that came out of the exhaust.

Meanwhile, Civic Type R is known to be able to issue an amount of emissions reaching 186 g/km. The car is included in the category of the most polluting car vehicles that generate enormous finance.

Buyers of this model will be subject to an initial tax of 13,655 euros (equivalent to Rp231.9 million), with an additional 549 euros (Rp9.3 million) for each gram above the set limit, which is 161 g/km.

With Civic Type R which can issue an additional 25 g/km of emissions and exceeds the limit, the total resulting BPM reaches 13,725 euros or is in the range of Rp233 million. Thus, this model will be subject to a total tax of up to 27,380 euros (Rp465 million).

Of course, this price is very high when compared to the US for 45,890 US dollars (equivalent to Rp711.4 million) and even more expensive than units in Indonesia with a tag of Rp1.3 billion on the Jakarta OTR.
