Anies Calls Roasting Must Be Part Of Democracy
Presidential candidate number 1 Anies Baswedan said roasting in the context of stand-up comedy is something that must be part of democracy.
"Actually roasting is an honor because it is discussed, seen from a humorous perspective, and for all of them it is fun. This is something that should be part of democracy," Anies said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, January 6.
According to Anies, the ridicule conveyed in the public sphere is a criticism that must be accepted, and is proof of freedom of expression in the democratic system.
He considered that if anyone forbade this criticism, it would make democracy in the country rigid.
"If there is no humorous atmosphere like that, how rigid our democracy is. It is not allowed to reveal what is a bit sarcastic, which is a lot of things," he said.
In addition, the vice presidential candidate Muhaimin Iskandar (Gus Imin) considers the ridicule conveyed is a motivation to increase enthusiasm and be active in making improvements.
"Roasting adds to the spirit, roasting is intriguing for improvements," said Gus Imin.
In the event, comedians Ate and Kiky Saputri roasted pair number 1 by saying that Anies as King of Rethoric, as well as Gus Imin who were considered to have often made careless mistakes (blunders) in conveying something to the public.
