Government Collects IDR 16.9 Trillion Digital Tax Until The End Of 2023
JAKARTA - The Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) has collected a Trade Value Added Tax (VAT) through the Electronic System (PMSE) of IDR 16.9 trillion by the end of 2023.
The funds came from IDR 731.4 billion in deposits in 2020, IDR 3.90 trillion in deposits in 2021, IDR 5.51 trillion in deposits in 2022, and IDR 6.76 trillion in deposits in 2023.
Director of Counseling, Services and Public Relations Dwi Astuti said that the government did not appoint a new PMSE VAT collection during December 2023.
Dwi conveyed that for the PMSE VAT collection, the number did not increase compared to last month, which was 163 collections.
"In December 2023, the government only corrected the data elements in the letter of appointment of Iqiyi International Singapore Pte. Ltd.," he said in his official statement Friday, January 5.
In accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Finance Number 60/PMK.03/2022, business actors who have been appointed as VAT PMSE must collect VAT at a rate of 11 percent for foreign digital products they sell in Indonesia.
In addition, collection is also required to make proof of VAT collection which can be in the form of commercial invoices, billing, order receipts, or other similar documents that mention VAT collection and payment has been made.
Dwi said that in the future, to continue to create justice and equality of business (level playing field for business actors, both conventional and digital, the government will continue to appoint PMSE business actors who sell products and provide digital services from abroad to consumers in Indonesia.

The appointment of the PMSE VAT collection or digital business is a manifestation of the ability to adopt technology by the government as one of the prerequisites for an Advanced Indonesia 2045.
"The criteria for business actors who can be appointed as PMSE VAT collections are that the transaction value with Indonesian buyers has exceeded Rp600 million a year or Rp50 million a month and/or the number of traffic in Indonesia has exceeded 12 thousand a year or a thousand a month," he said.
