Tesla Controls The Norwegian Electric Car Market For The Third Time, Model Y Becomes The Best Selling Product

JAKARTA - Tesla's electric vehicle industry (EV) PInation again peaked car sales in Norway in 2023, or controlled the market for three consecutive years.

As reported by Reuters, 3 Jnauari, as many as five of the six latest vehicles sold in Norway last year are battery-powered cars. Thus, Tesla's sales trend increased from 12.2 percent to 20 percent according to registration data.

In addition, the electric vehicle segment in the "No Nightless Country" dominates by contributing 82.4 percent of the total new models sold in 2023. Previously, the sale generated 79.3 percent in 2022.

Following Tesla, vehicle brands such as Toyota accounted for the second most sales with 12.4 percent, up from 8 percent, and Volkswagen which contributed 10.8 percent, down from 11.6 percent.

Meanwhile, Tesla Model Y managed to become the best-selling EV in Norway during 2023. This medium-sized crossover is priced at 452,000 krone or equivalent to IDR 679.1 million and sales are superior to VW ID.4 and Skolda Enyaq.

Moller Mobility Group, Norway's largest car retailer, predicts EV sales will increase by 90 percent by 2024. Of course, this must be addressed if you want to achieve the target of 100 percent selling new fossil-free vehicles by 2025.

Of course, this is good news for Tesla, who recently received strong criticism from trade unions and pension funds in the Nordic region for refusing to accept requests from Swedish mechanics for collective bargaining rights that include wages and other conditions.

As a result, workers in Sweden refused to serve Tesla vehicles, and received support from trade unions in Norway, Denmark, and Finland, which helped block vehicle imports into the region. However, there is no signal that this conflict disrupts the sale of the brand in Norway.
