Muhammadiyah Bali Will Police Arya Wedakarna On Blasphemy Of Religion

DENPASAR - Leader of the Muhammadiyah Region (PWM) of Bali Province will report Arya Wedakarna or AWK to the police on suspicion of blasphemy. AWK allegedly alluded to the use of the hijab for Muslim women.

Chairman of PWM Bali H. Husnul Fahmi said Muhammadiyah Bali appreciated the supervisory function carried out by Arya Wedakarna as a form of checks and balances for the running of the government in Bali.

"That we, the Regional Leader of Muhammadiyah Bali, condemn and condemn the actions of the members of the DPD RI Arya Wedakarna who are suspected of committing blasphemy against Islam regarding his words at the meeting on December 29, 2023," said Fahmi, Wednesday, January 3.

But AWK's statement about the cover of a woman's head is called an insult to Muslims.

"And the hijab or head covering is not a typical Middle East dress but mandatory clothing for Muslim women around the world so that Arya Wedakarna's words or speech insults the teachings of Islam and insults the dignity of the headscarf as the identity of Muslim women in the world," he added.

Fahmi stated that the attitude and words of DPD member Arya Wedakarna did not reflect the attitude of a state official or high-ranking official.

"That we, the Regional Leader of Muhammadiyah Bali, urge the Bali Regional Police Chief to take firm action and process the law for the actions committed by members of the DPD RI, Arya Wedakarna," he said.
