Dozens Of Houses In Agam, West Sumatra, Were Submerged By Floods
AGAM - As many as 70 housing units in Tapian Kandih, Nagari or Salareh Aia Barat Village, Palembayan District, Agam Regency, West Sumatra were flooded due to high rainfall hitting the local area.
Secretary of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Agam Olkawendri said the flood inundated 70 housing units with 100 family heads with a height of about 50 centimeters to 1 meter.
"The flood inundated the residents' houses at around 15.30 WIB and we received a report from the Palembayan sub-district head at 16.00 WIB," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 3.
He said the Agam BPBD lowered the task force and the boat to the location after receiving the report.
The Task Force provides assistance for flood victims and the water has begun to recede. But the rain still hit the area.
"There were no casualties as a result of the incident and the flood impact losses are being recorded," he said.
Rainfall was quite high, causing landslides in Batu Bagrik, Jorong Padang Tarok, Nagari Salareh Aia Utara, Palembayan District, Wednesday (3/1) at around 14.30 WIB.
Landslides also carry trees so that vehicles cannot pass the road.
"We have coordinated with the nagari government and sub-districts to clean up landslide materials," he said.

Previously, the flood also submerged 27 housing units ingangangan, Nagari Sitianang, Ampek Nagari District, on Tuesday (2/1).
Floods also occurred in Tapian Kandih, Nagari Salareh Aia Barat, Palembayan District, resulting in houses submerged with a height of up to 50 centimeters and a house damaged by Masdeni's kitchen (46).
After that, landslides in Salareh Aia and fallen trees in Bukik Apiak, Nagari Parik Panjang, Matua District, so that the provincial road connects Lubuk Basung, Agam Regency to Bukijinggi City, vehicles cannot pass.
"The landslide land also occurred in Panta, Nagari, Panta Pauh District, Matur District in three locations," he said.
