Inaugurating 4 Terminals In Central Java, Jokowi: Terminals In The Country Must Have The Same Standards, Support Local MSMEs
JAKARTA - Indonesian President Joko Widodo ordered the Minister of Transportation to apply the same standards to all terminals in Indonesia.
The President said this when inaugurating four terminals, namely Purworejo Terminal in Purworejo Regency, Mendolo Terminal in Wonosobo Regency, Purboyo Terminal in Madiun City, and Patria Terminal in Blitar City, from Purworejo, Central Java, quoted by ANTARA Tuesday, January 2.
"I ask the Minister of Transportation in other cities to be seen so that the terminal is good not only in Purworejo, not only Wonosobo, not only in Blitar, not only in Madiun, but in all cities in the country it has the same standards," said the President.
President Widodo said that bus terminals must eliminate old images, and can support the improvement of the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) economy.
Jokowi continued, "This is the work of the government in chasing congestion in all cities. It is not easy, but we must dare to build facilities and infrastructure that support mass transportation, which supports public transportation."
Although there are many pros and cons in transportation development, for example, the construction of high-speed trains, but between cities in Java, said the President, one day the city will continue to become an agglomeration.
The President stressed that without a good mass transportation sector, cities in Java will experience severe congestion.
"That can happen if we don't wake up. For example, in Jakarta, getting out of the house to go to the road is already stuck in traffic jams," he said.
The Head of State appreciates the construction of four terminals by the Ministry of Transportation in Purworejo, Wonosobo, Madiun, and Blitar.
According to Jokowi, the construction of the four terminals will provide support for transportation facilities and infrastructure, increase intercity, inter-district and inter-provincial connectivity.
"It should be called a bus terminal, yes, like this. I saw it going inside. In the past, the bus image terminal was thugs. This has been lost, the bus terminal is a place of service and provides support for improving the MSME economy. Everything must be involved in it," he said.

It is said that the existence of mass transportation needs to be encouraged because currently traffic jams are already available in almost all cities in Indonesia, even in small cities, because everyone uses private vehicles.
"The complaints must be answered. We know that there is an MRT in Jakarta, although it has not been completed. There is already an LRT, although it is not finished yet. There is already a KRL, it is still not enough. In addition, the fast train also helps, but also only ends in Bandung," said the President.
