Fulfill Requirements, Makassar New Port Access Toll Road Will Function January 2, 2024

After fulfilling the functional requirements from Bina Marga and the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), the Makassar New Port (MNP) access toll road will function starting Tuesday, January 2, 2024.

President Director of PT Makassar Metro Network (MMN) Ismail Malliungan said that toll users from the Old Port and Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport and KIMA (Maassar Industrial Estate) who headed to Makassar New Port's new port could immediately benefit from this project.

Congestion in the area of access to exit toll roads on Jalan Teuku Umar often occurs, which is due to the large number of logistics transport trucks parked on the side of the road for loading and unloading processes," he quoted Antara as saying.

According to Ismail, the presence of this MNP toll access road can be a solution in unraveling congestion in the area with direct access for logistics vehicles to and from Makassar New Port.

Built along 3.2 km, the MNP Toll Road construction project is fully completed and a Functional Feasibility Test has been carried out by the Ministry and the Related Agency so that it can function immediately.

In an effort to further improve road security and safety for road users, the MNP Toll Road is built by implementing standards that comply with Minimum Service Standards (SPM) and providing free space (clear zones).

"The MNP Toll Access Road is directly connected to the port, so it is hoped that it can reduce logistics costs while reducing the distribution time of goods and services between regions and encouraging economic growth in the region," said Ismail again.

The transportation of containers and people who are active at the New Port Makassar New Port can use the Makassar New Port Toll Access Road.

For motorists from the direction of the Old Port who want to use this new toll access road, they can enter the toll road and pass through the Cambaya Toll Gate and then take the left lane and then go up to the Makassar New Port Toll Access Road.

Drivers from the airport or KIMA can choose the road access to Makassar New Port at the road branch to the port and Panakkukang, then go up to Makassar New Port Access Road.

Meanwhile, to exit the Makassar New Port Toll Access Road, motorists can turn to Jalan Sultan Abdullah, for motorists heading towards the airport to turn left towards the West Tallo Toll Gate.
