Amazon Partners With Plug Power To Create Hydrogen Results Electrolysis
JAKARTA Amazon realizes that the use of hydrogen as fuel is the right action. Apart from being low in carbon, hydrogen can save energy use.
Seeing the importance of hydrogen use, Amazon decided to cooperate with Plug Power, a hydrogen solutions-producing company, to produce hydrogen fuel at the fulfillment center, to be precise in Aurora, Colorado.
On Wednesday, December 27, Plug Power said that it had completed installation and installation of an electrolysis system with a power of one megawatt (MW). This device that outlines electricity and water will produce hydrogen.
Plug Power says that hydrogen fuel from the electrolysis they created could charge 225 forklift trucks at the fulfillment center. However, the original electrolysis capacity reaches 400 forklift trucks.
The fulfillment center in Aurora is the first location to use hydrogran-producing electrolysis. Plug said they would continue to work together to implement hydrogen use across Amazon's fulfillment centers.

This project demonstrates Plug's ability to implement the entire hydrogen value chain, and shows how we can design and implement comprehensive solutions for our customers, said Plug Power CEO Andy Marsh.
Meanwhile, Amazon emphasizes that hydrogen is a smart solution to protecting the environment. The company is determined to continue to use hydrogen at the site and facilities they have to protect the environment.
"Hydrogen is an important tool in our efforts to decarbonize in 2040 to support The Climate Pledge. We are very happy with our ability to produce hydrogen in Amazon facilities through partnerships with Plug," said Amazon's Director of Global Hydrogen Economy, Asad Jafry.
