The Red Cross Asks For Humanitarian Activities In Gaza To Be Protected From Israeli Attacks

JAKARTA - The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has asked for humanitarian activities and their personnel to be protected from Israeli attacks that are currently taking place in the Gaza Strip.

The ICRC requested that humanitarian aid workers and vehicles as well as buildings used for humanitarian assistance in the Gaza Strip be protected during the conflict.

Reported by ANTARA from Anadolu, Thursday, December 28, the ICRC stated that humanitarian aid workers were there to provide life-saving assistance and should have worked safely.

The Israeli military continues to target agencies and centers working on humanitarian tasks, including hospitals, medical complexes, and centers in the northern and southern Gaza Strip.

Recently, the area around the Al-Amal Hospital affiliated with the Palestinian Red Crescent in the city of Khan Younis was intensively attacked by Israel which claimed the lives of several people and injured several others.

According to local health authorities, 21,110 Palestinians have lost their lives and 55,243 have been injured as a result of Israel's relentless attacks on the Gaza Strip since Hamas attacked Israel on October 7.

In contrast, 1,200 Israelis died as a result of the Hamas attack.

Israel's intense attacks destroyed Gaza where 60 percent of the infrastructure in the region was damaged and destroyed, while 2 million of its population were displaced while food shortages, clean water and acute medicines.
