Key To Winning Against Everton, Man City Players Have Discussed Their Match While On The Plane
JAKARTA - There is no break time for Manchester City players. After winning the 2023 Club World Cup, Man City immediately plunged into the English Premier League. Even the match against Everton was discussed when players were still on the plane on their way from Saudi Arabia.
Man City had no trouble over Everton playing at home at Goodison Park Stadium, Thursday, December 28 in the morning WIB. Left behind first, Man City was able to turn things around and win 3-1.
The goals of Man City were produced by Phil Foden, Julian Alvarez and Bernardo Silva in the second half. The victory brought Man City back to the top four by shifting Tottenham Hotspur.
With 37 points, they are one point ahead of Tottenham. However, Man City, who has recorded four consecutive league champions, is still five points behind with the leaders of the Liverpool standings.
Manager Pep Guardiola said that Man City's victory was due to player mentality.
According to him, players are still ready to play matches in domestic competitions after winning trophies in Saudi Arabia. They even discussed the match against Everton while still on the plane
"I remember on the plane on the way home from Saudi Arabia. I just listened to the players' conversations. They didn't know if I was listening to what they were talking about," said Guardiola.
"They discussed the match against Everton. I said, 'Wow, this is my team.' I feel they still want to try," he said.

"We played a lot of games this season. Many say that this team is different. We have only lost once from the last 13 matches. We don't have enough time to talk about how good our team is," he said again.
Despite successfully winning the Club World Cup, Man City's performance is still not solid in domestic competitions. From the last five matches, Man City won twice and drew and lost once.
In the next two matches, Man City hosted Sheffield United, December 30, 2023. They then played an away match against Newcastle United.
