Metro Police Chief Regarding Firli Bahuri Has Not Been Detained: The Case Is Growing

JAKARTA - Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Karyoto spoke about the absence of arrest of the inactive KPK chairman, Firli Bahuri, even though he has been a suspect in the alleged extortion case against the former Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL).

According to him, detention is easy to do but requires careful tactics and strategies. Moreover, in the case that named Firli Bahuri as a suspect, it is considered that he will develop.

"To detain that person, we have tactics and strategies, because this seems to be a developing case," Karyoto said in a year-end release at Polda Metro Jaya, Thursday, December 28.

With the case that is likely to develop, Karyoto is reluctant to seem to pay in installments of case handling. For now, investigators will continue to collect all the results of the ongoing handling.

When it is later completed, it is possible that the detention steps will be carried out.

"In installments of the case, I have 4 accusations against 1. One I will finish later, I will add one more, that cannot be the principle. We are unfair to the treatment of this suspect. That's why we gather it first, then we will make it one," he said.

"It's easy to hold back, today if I can hold it, I can hold it. But we need the right tactics and strategies," continued Karyoto.

In addition, detention must also be carried out according to the rules. So, later there will be a solid basis in addition to the results of the investigation according to the facts.

"So that later we don't waste time and don't let us punish people too much, they will be detained later, it's not enough to look for cases anymore, it can't be, we all have to be facts," said Karyoto.

In handling the alleged extortion case against SYL, Polda Metro Jaya investigators have named Firli Bahuri as a suspect based on the results of the case title conducted on Wednesday, November 22.
