56 Percent Of Wage Recipient Workers In Bali Have Not Registered BPJamsostek

DENPASAR - Head of the Employment Social Security Administration (BPJS) or BPJAMSOSTEK Regency Bali, Nusa Tenggara and Papua (Banuspa) Kuncoro Budi Winarno said about 56 percent of wage workers in Bali Province had not been registered as participants.

Kuncoro said that based on data from the Bali Central Statistics Agency (BPS) in 2022, the number of formal workers in the province was 1,214,028 people.

"However, the recipients of wages who were active participants until November 2023 were recorded at 538,504 people or 44 percent of the total number of formal workers," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, December 28.

Therefore, his party still has the task of attracting participation from another 56 percent.

"We certainly hope that the coverage can be even better. For participation from this formal sector, an active role from the employer is needed," he said.

In addition, said Kuncoro, other problems are that there are employers who have not complied by only registering their workers with some programs and also not reporting the wages that workers actually get.

Meanwhile, regarding the participation of BPJAMSOSTEK from the informal or non-wage recipient sector in Bali Province, around 21.44 percent of the total number of informal workers registered at BPS in 2022 were 1,393,042 people.

This year, his party is aggressively pushing for informal sector participation and is recognized as still the biggest job because the challenge lies that there is still a gap in public awareness about the need for social security.

"In the delivery of compensation, we have often provided examples of motorcycle taxi drivers, farmers being struck by lightning, falling from trees and so on. This is all to increase public awareness regarding the importance of protecting employment social security," he said.

He hopes that the local government (Pemda) can also make BPJS Employment as a partner in managing the welfare level of its working citizens, especially regarding the transfer of risks for workers who have work accidents.

Payment of benefits or compensation for BPJS Ketenagakerjaan in Bali Province from the January-November 2023 period reached more than Rp955.96 billion for 68,516 cases.
