Lolak Bolaang Mongondow Dam Filled With 53 Percent, Has A Capacity Of 16.2 Million Cubic Meters Of Water
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has completed the construction of the Lolak Dam in Bolaang Mongondow Regency, North Sulawesi Province.
The dam with an area of 101 hectares of inundation has started to fill with water since last August 18.
Spokesperson for the Ministry of PUPR Endra S. Atmawidjaja said the Lolak Dam was one of 61 dams built and completed between 2015 and 2024.
"We are taking advantage of the current rainy season opportunity to fill the dam as optimally as possible. Then we are waiting for the right momentum from the Palace for the inauguration of the Lolak Dam, possibly in early 2024," said Endra's spokesman to reporters, Wednesday, December 27.
Meanwhile, Head of the Sulawesi River Basin Center (BWS) I Komang Sudana said that currently the physical construction of the Lolak Dam has been completely completed and the reservoir water elevation has reached an altitude of +106.170 meters or approximately 53 percent of the total reservoir.
"It has passed the intake elevation at +99 meters, but has not yet crossed the +114.5 meter elevation," said Komang.
Komang said, Lolak Dam with a capacity of 16.23 million m3 will provide many benefits, apart from providing irrigation water for agricultural areas covering an area of 2,214 hectares, this dam will also be a raw water source of 500 liters per second.
Lolak Dam will also function as a hydroelectric power plant with an energy potential of 2.43 MW, a flood control that can reduce flood discharge by 12 percent.
Not only that, the Lolak Dam will also become a new tourist destination in the Bolaang Mongondow area and ex-ex-ex-excavation land can be used as a productive Fruit Forest.
The Lolak Dam construction contract was divided into two packages, namely the first package worth Rp830 billion with the contractor PT. Housing Development (PP) (Persero) Tbk.
