Mantan Kasir BPR Blitar Yang Tilap Uang Nasabah Hampir Rp1 Miliar Ditangkap
BlitAR - Blitar City Police arrested a former cashier from a public credit bank (BPR) in Blitar City, for embezzling nearly Rp1 billion in customer money.
Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Blitar City Police, AKP Hendro Utaryo, said that the police arrested ES (31), a resident of Bendoluwung Village, Sananggalon District, Blitar Regency.
He once worked as a cashier at Blitar City BPR. The perpetrator is desperate to commit a crime by taking customer savings.
"The perpetrator took BPR Artha Praja's cash, marked the savings collection of 14 customers, reduced customer savings deposits and did not pay the salaries of the cleaning staff," said AKP Hendro as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, December 27.
The perpetrators at that time worked with the status of employees from 2018 to 2019.
When taking the money, the modus operandi of the perpetrator was to break into the authorization system using a password account belonging to one of the account holders and falsify customer signatures in withdrawal and deposit slips.
The action was later discovered. However, the person concerned fled since 2020 to a number of areas such as Banyuwangi, Jember and Lumajang by leaving a loss of more than Rp1 billion. He was then only caught on December 22, 2023.

When questioned, the perpetrator admitted that he was desperate to do what he did because he was caught in a fake social gathering. He became a victim of a fake social gathering of up to Rp. 300 million. To cover the debt, he finally decided to take customer money.
In addition to arresting the perpetrators, the police also recorded a number of evidences, including a bundle of BPR Artha Praja staffing files on behalf of the perpetrators, a bundle of daily reports/cash transfers of BPR Artha Praja City Blitar, a copy of withdrawal slips and deposits of BPR customers Artha Praja, a bundle of reports on the results of calculating state losses, and various other pieces of evidence.
