Jokowi Reminds To Maintain Tolerance And Unity In Political Year

SURABAYA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) reminded Christians to maintain tolerance, peace and unity during the political year.

"Although we are entering the political year, even though we will soon hold elections, elect members of the legislature, vote for president and vice president, we must continue to maintain tolerance, maintain the unity of peace," said President Jokowi during the 2023 National Christmas at Grahatama Surabaya, East Java, reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 27.

Jokowi said that differences in political choices are natural in democracy. But the Indonesian people are united by a more noble interest.

"But we are united by a more noble interest, namely maintaining the unity of unity, peace, cooperation, human interests and advancing our beloved country, this is an Indonesian country," he said.

Jokowi invites Christians to set an example of diversity to the world.

"We want to continue to set an example to the world that diversity is an unavoidable natural law. Differences in religion, differences in views are increasingly reasonable in today's modern life," he said.

"The choice to live in harmony and full of love is a good choice that God teaches us that must be fought for and must be thrived in the life of the people of the nation and state society," he continued.

"In the midst of the challenges of a tough world life marked by the food crisis, which is marked by an economic crisis marked by disputes between nations, even marked by war, we must remember and be vigilant the Javanese people convey lan waspodo," said President Jokowi.
