Jokowi Invites Christians To Give Examples Of Diversity To The World

SURABAYA - President Jokowi invites Christians in all corners of the country to set an example of diversity to the world.

"We want to continue to set an example to the world that diversity is an unavoidable natural law. Differences in religion, differences in views are increasingly common in today's modern life," said President Jokowi during the National Christmas Celebration at Graha total Surabaya as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 27.

However, Jokowi continued, the choice to live in harmony and love is a good choice taught by God to us that must be fought for and must be cultivated in the life of the nation and state society.

"In the midst of the challenges of a tough world life marked by the food crisis, which is marked by an economic crisis marked by disputes between nations, even marked by war, we must remember and be vigilant the Javanese people convey lan waspodo," he said.

According to the President, disputes, let alone wars, will surely bring a setback for civilization, on the other hand, harmony unity allows to progress.

"We Indonesians are really lucky to be able to maintain tolerance in diversity in diversity. We are also able to maintain unity in the midst of diversity, we are able to maintain Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, we are grateful to have Pancasila," he said.

Jokowi reminded that Indonesia is a large and very diverse country because it has 714 tribes and more than 1,300 regional languages.

"I can speak like this because I visited almost 85 percent of regions throughout the country in less than 15 percent and I will finish it later in 2024," he said.

The spirit of being moderate in religion and placing the interests of nationality as part of faith must continue to be nurtured.
