Amazon Has Completed Project Kuiper Final Testing Stage
JAKARTA Amazon launched two satellite prototypes, namely Kupersat-1 and Kupersat-2, for Project Kuiper last October. The two satellites have completed an important testing phase.
From Space reports, Kupersat-1 and Kupersat-2 have gone through a series of tests, including the validation of intersatellite optical technology (OISL). This test uses infrared lasers to transmit inter-aircraft data.
From the test results, Amazon said that the two prototypes that have been launched are capable of maintaining a stable connection speed of up to 100GB per second. This test shows that Amazon is ready to launch next year's Kupersat.
Meanwhile, OIL used in testing is claimed to be able to connect all satellites in the Project Kuiper constellation. The plan, Amazon will launch 3,236 Kupersat to Low Earth Orbit (LEO).

Project Kuiper is a broadband network service similar to SpaceX's Starlink. However, the expansion of Starlink is much larger and SpaceX has amassed many customers from various countries.
Although Project Kuiper is a competitor to Starlink, Amazon decided to cooperate with SpaceX in launching three additional Kupersat satellites. The launch is planned to take place in 2025.
Prior to using SpaceX services, Project Kuiper had partnered with the Unite Launch Alliance (ULA) to launch the entire Kupersat satellite at the beginning of the second half of next year. Two prototype Kupersat satellites were also launched by ULA.
