199 Times KKB Spreads Terror In Papua Throughout 2023, 146 People Become Victims

National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo said the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) recorded 199 times spreading terror in Papua during the 2023 period. More than a hundred people were victims of the terror act.

"Based on the results of the evaluation in 2023, there were 199 KKB actions which resulted in 146 people being victims," said Sigit in a year-end release (RAT) at the National Police Headquarters, Wednesday, December 27.

Meanwhile, the Political Criminal Group (KKP) is said to have acted 234 times. That number decreased when compared to 2022.

To deal with the two, Sigit ensured that his staff would increase the capacity of regional units and oversee the new autonomous region (DOB) program. Currently, there are 236 Regional Police and 42 Polres supported by 21,555 personnel

"We are holding an operation for activities in Papua covering the Damai Cartenz Ops. This is an operation to enforce the law for the 2023 Paro operation together with the TNI created diplomacy," he said.

"And the search for the kidnapping of Captain Philips Mark, Operation Rastra Samara Kasih (Rakka) for soft approach operations with the aim of 'To win The Hearts and Mind The People of Papua' through the Binmas Noken program and the 2023 Binmas Bintik Bintang Mansikam Operation related to KKB and KKP activities in West Papua," continued Sigit.

In addition, the National Police will also continue to protect the Papuan people from KKB terror. Until later a sense of security will be created.

"The National Police also continues to protect against the KKB attack in collaboration with all existing stakeholders," said Sigit.
