Impact Of Collision Test Manipulation, Astra Daihatsu Will Suspend Export Process

JAKARTA - Continuing the previous VOI news, the results of the Daihatsu hit-and-run investigation have been released by the Third Party Independent Committee. The scandal occurred due to falsification of 88,000 data from the impact test conducted by the company, including involving several models including those from Toyota.

In the results of the report, 174 new cases were found in 25 testing items, apart from the manipulation of the pole side hit test last May. The report states that there are irregularities in 64 models and 3 machines, including models that are under development or production is stopped.

Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM), as the distributor of Daihatsu vehicles in Indonesia, responded that it would follow up on certification procedures as well as be committed to prioritizing consumer safety.

"With this news, Daihatsu Indonesia apologizes for the inconvenience that has occurred. We together with principals have ensured that all Daihatsu vehicles produced, distributed, and marketed in Indonesia do not have quality and safety problems," wrote ADM in a statement received by VOI, Friday, December 22.

However, the company can ensure that the vehicles marketed in Indonesia have met applicable regulations and will coordinate this with the Indonesian government.

"Regarding the certification process, we also fully coordinate with government authorities as stakeholders and determine the homologation process in Indonesia," said ADM.

Thus, ADM will temporarily suspend the export market and wait for confirmation from the authorities in the export destination country.

"It will be sought as soon as possible to get confirmation, so that ADM can meet export demand according to plan," he concluded.
