IDF Claims To Kill About 2,000 Hamas Members Since Ceasefire Ended December 1

JAKARTA - Israeli spokesman Defense Forces Rear Admiral Daniel teleoni said the military had succeeded in killing more than 2,000 Hamas members in attacks and land battles since the end of the temporary ceasefire in Gaza on December 1.

That brings the estimated number of Hamas fighters killed in Gaza since the outbreak of the war to 8,000 people according to military estimates, with another 1,000 Hamas members killed in Israel during the October 7 attack.

"We have increased the number of troops fighting in eastern Khan Younis, and we are fighting there with determination, with five infantry brigades, and combat engineers, with an emphasis on underground fighting," Rear Admiral

North, Laksda Mihi said, "Hezbollah has turned southern Lebanon into a combat zone and continues to jeopardize the future of the entire Lebanese region for Hamas and Iran."

"We will continue to try to keep Hezbollah away from the border," he added.

Separately, the IDF claims to have managed to control Shejaiya District after days of fierce fighting, completing the dismantling of the Hamas group's core capabilities, as followed by CNN.

The IDF said Shejaiya had been a hot battle ground in recent days, with Israeli forces facing ambushes and attacks involving suicide bombers or attackers wearing civilian clothing.

He added that the IDF also raided the house of senior Hamas officials and destroyed more than 100 buildings suspected of being used by the group, and arrested a Hamas commander and suspect who participated in the October 7 attack.
