Perum Bulog Gets Assignment Of Imports Of 2 Million Tons Of Rice Next Year

JAKARTA - Perum Bulog again received an import assignment from the government, namely 2 million tons of rice in 2024. This imported rice will become the government's rice reserve stock (CBP).

The President Director of Perum Bulog, Bayu Krisnamurthi, said that this import was carried out to refill the government's rice reserves that were used.

As is known, CBP stock will currently be distributed through market operations or Stabilization of Market Price Supply (SPHP) as well as rice food assistance.

"The first time we have to fill in the shortcomings that occur, return to its original position, and cover the food assistance and 2024 SPHP. So approximately 2 million tons," said Bayu at the Bulog Corporate University office, Jakarta, Thursday, December 21.

Bayu said that for the assignment of imports of 2 million tons of rice in 2024, Bulog is looking for sources of rice supply from various countries. Starting from Thailand, India, China, and so on.

Furthermore, Budi said the reason for opening up import opportunities from various countries was because the uncertainty in rice supply was still high. Thus, Bulog opens up opportunities from any source.

"We are now looking for from all of them, and we are looking for which ones are most in accordance with the applicable provisions in Indonesia," said Bayu.

Budi said Bulog opened up opportunities for imports with two schemes, namely business to business (b to b) or government to government (g to g). He said, Bulog also considers imports with the b to b and g to g scheme with Thailand.

"It's nice if you want to mention it, because we are BUMN, then at g to g we can, and b to b we can," said Bayu.

In addition, continued Budi, currently the rice export policy in India has also been changed. Where India requires a g to g scheme. According to Bayu, Bulog has been appointed as the government's representative to discuss the scheme.

There is a new institution that they formed in India and that will be the only entrance. Bulog has been officially appointed by the Indonesian government as Indonesia's representative. So that Bulog has directly negotiated with the institution," said Bayu.
