PlayStation 5 Console Has Been Sold For More Than 50 Million Units Over Three Years
JAKARTA - Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) announced that the PlayStation 5 (PS5) console has now sold beyond 50 million units globally, within three years of its launch in November 2020.
"The achievement of PS5 sales is a testament to the global PlayStation community's unshakable support and their enthusiasm for the extraordinary experience created by talented developers from PlayStation Studios and our partners," said Jim Ryan, President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment in its official announcement, quoted Thursday, December 21.
Ryan also expressed his gratitude to all the players, who have supported the company, so that the PS5 console has experienced a strong momentum this year.
"Thanks to support from PlayStation fans globally, the PS5 console has experienced strong momentum this year, driven by a series of very popular games and SIE's focus on continuing to bring innovations to gaming experiences, including PS5 game streaming for PlayStation Plus Premium members," Ryan added.
Moreover, over the three years after the life cycle, the PS5 has brought progress when developers are fully capitalizing on advanced technologies such as ray tracing, and a deeper experience with the innovative haptic of the DualSense controller, and adaptive feedback and triggers.

This momentum was also driven by recent hits such as the PS5 game which received critical praise from Marvel's Spider-Man 2 from Insomniac Games, as well as well as well-known partner titles including Baldur's Gate 3 from Larian Studios, and Alan Wake 2 from Remedy Entertainment and Epic Games.
"With more than 2,500 PS5 games, plus new accessories to improve gaming experiences such as PlayStation Portal long-distance players and the Pulse Explore wireless earbud, now is the right time to join the PS5 family," the announcement concluded.
