The Kremlin Calls Negotiations With Ukraine Inevitably Discussed Today, Highlights President Zelensky's Peace Plan

JAKARTA - The Kremlin authorities said on Wednesday there was currently no basis for peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, saying Kyiv's proposed peace plan was unreasonable because it did not involve Russia.

"We really consider the topic of negotiations irrelevant at this time," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

Peskov further said Britain had wasted opportunities to reach a peace agreement in 2022, putting pressure on Kyiv to reject the draft deal shortly after Russia deployed troops to Ukraine.

"After that, there were no prerequisites for negotiations, and there were even fewer prerequisites after Ukraine legally banned any negotiations with the Russian side," Peskov said.

This is related to President Zelensky's signing of the cap in October 2022 which officially states that the prospect of Ukraine's talks with President Putin is "impossible" after Russia claims to have annexed four regions in southern and eastern Ukraine.

On the same occasion, Peskov said President Zelensky's peace plan, known as the "formula of peace", was flawed because he thought the plan was trying to find peace without Russian participation.

"At least, this is an unreasonable process," Peskov said.

It is known that 10 points of President Zelensky's peace plan are calling for the withdrawal of Russian troops and the halt to hostilities and the restoration of Ukraine's borders with Russia.
