Borobudur Year-End Visitors Targeted 105 Thousand People

MAGELANG - During the year-end holidays, visitors to Borobudur Temple are targeted to increase by 24 percent or 105,966 visitors.

President Director of PT Taman Wisata Borobudur Prambanan and Ratuboko (TWC) Febrina Intan said the increase in visitors was for December 23, 2023 to January 1, 2024.

According to him, during the school holidays, visitors to Borobudur Temple have started to feel it.

"It is estimated that on December 27, 2023 visitors will be very crowded," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 20.

General Manager of the Borobudur Unit, Jamaludin Mawardi, said that the infrastructure preparation for supporting facilities had already begun a few days earlier.

"The purpose of tourist arrivals in Borobudur is not to let there be facilities that are not ready. How will the parking lot and backup counter and so on," he said.

He said the number of visitors on weekdays had more than 4,000-5,000 visits per day.

"However, at the end of this year we project not too high, we learned from last year's Lebaran experience, the highest was not up to 15,000 in Borobudur," he said.

According to him, one of the factors due to restrictions on visitors who ride the temple will affect the interest of tourists who come to Borobudur.

In addition, maybe the issue of expensive tickets entering Borobudur is still circulating in the community.
