KKP Stops Activities Of Tin Sand Dredges In Tanjung Balai Karimun
The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) has temporarily suspended tin sand dredging activities by PTEUM in Tanjung Balai Karimun waters, Riau Islands.
"Entrepreneurs who have obtained an Approval for the Compliance of Marine Spatial Utilization Activities (PKKPRL), can make use of sedimentation at sea according to the coordinates provided. If mining outside the coordinate points provided, the entrepreneur is declared a violation," said the Director General of Marine and Fishery Resources Supervision (PSDKP) of the KKP Rear Admiral TNI Adin Nurawaluddin as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 20.
The temporary suspension of tin sand-taking efforts by PT EUM is a follow-up to the inspection of the GT-2 KIP ship carried out by the Air and Fisheries Supervisory Vessel HIU 17 and the Batam PSDKP Base Marine Supervisory on December 8, 2023.
Based on the search, the PTEUM owner of the Mining Business License (IUP) and the person in charge of mining activities, there is evidence of deliberately ignoring regulations because the ship continues to follow the flow of potential tin sand content, which is outside the area of its PKKPRL permit.
Since the enactment of Government Regulation (PP) Number 26 of 2023 concerning the Management of sedimentation in the Sea, it is possible that many similar cases have occurred in the field. This is the concern of the Directorate General of PSDKP to increase supervision and monitoring by using 20 nano-satellite technology and Command Center," said Adin.
Adin said that previously PTEUM had pocketed PKKPRL documents as of July 11, 2023 with an area of 52.7 hectares. However, it was observed that there were sea sand mining activities that were not in accordance with the 11.37 Ha PKKPRL on Monday (11/12).
