Surabaya Police Install Bodycam To Field Personnel
SURABAYA - The Surabaya City Police (Polrestabes) installed body cameras (bodycam) to some personnel on duty in the field, after receiving 50 units from the East Java Regional Police (East Java Police).
East Java Police Chief Inspector General Imam Sugianto explained that 50 units of body cameras handed over to the Surabaya Police were obtained from a grant of two private companies, namely PT Mega Pratama Unggul and Spintech.
"The total value of 50 bodycam units is IDR 1.3 billion," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 20.
Bodycam is an audio, video or photography recording system from the point of view of the officer who uses it.

The Kapolda explained that the recording of the situation that occurred from the police in the field was real-time connected with the "Command Center" at the Surabaya Police Headquarters, making it easier to coordinate if it needed additional personnel support to create conducive conditions.
"Hopefully this is the starting point for the use of technology. In the future, hopefully it can develop more. If possible, ideally all members in the field will use a bodycam," he said.
In addition to being able to be used for routine daily patrol activities, the bodycam technology will also be used by Surabaya Police officers in the Semeru Candle Operation at the end of 2023, as well as securing the 2024 Presidential General Election (Pemilu).
