Lawyers For The Former Deputy Minister Of Law And Human Rights Eddy Hiariej Prepare 3 Witnesses At The Pretrial Session

JAKARTA - The legal team of former Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights (Wamenkumham) Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej prepared three expert witnesses in the pretrial follow-up trial at the South Jakarta District Court on Wednesday (20/12).

"We will focus on preparing written evidence for tomorrow's follow-up trial," said Eddy Hiariej's lawyer, Muhammad Luthfie, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, December 19.

He conveyed that his party remained on the arguments that became the basis for the lawsuit submitted at the first pretrial hearing.

"We completely reject the response and the main answer to the case submitted by the KPK," he said.

In addition, another member of the lawyer team of the former Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights, Ricky Herbert Parulian Sitohang, emphasized that he would respect both parties, both us from the applicant and the KPK as the respondent in this pretrial hearing.

"Tomorrow we will see in the proof by presenting three expert witnesses, please later the judge assess that the main aspect of the case is not included in the realm," he added.

Previously, member of the Legal Bureau of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Togi Sirait emphasized that the stipulation of former Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights (Wamenkumham) Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej was legal according to law and had binding force.

"We gave an answer to the request submitted by Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej at the follow-up hearing of the pretrial Monday (18/12)," he said.

Togi stated that the investigation carried out by the KPK to the applicant was based on the Sprin Investigation Order.Dik/147/DIK.00/01/11/2023, on behalf of Edward Omar Sharif, then Sprin.Dik/149/DIK.00/01/11/2023, on behalf of Yogie Arie Rukmana and Sprin.Dik/148/DIK.00/01/11/2023, on behalf of Yosi Andika Mulyadi on November 24, 2023 is valid.

"The determination of the applicant as a suspect is legal based on the law and has binding force," he said.
